Before you send that Blanket Email...

It is EASY to draft an email and send it to everyone all at the same time, how effective is that though?

I have been reading The Long-Distance Leader by Kevin Eikenberry and Wayne Turmel and they have shared some interesting perspectives into how we communicate in the digital age. If you are like me, you probably didn't make the choice for 2020 to be the year that your entire company went to a digital platform and yet, here we are!

What does it look like to be a Long-Distance Leader... well, the leadership part is not all that different, the way we do it MUST BE! Let's face it, technology changes quickly and in order to lead through it, we must understand it. The above graph shows the level of connection that each different form of media has the further to the right it is, the higher the dependence on catch-all technology it is, the higher up it is the more relational it is in terms truly connecting with your company/agents/team it is.

Leaders often choose one tool over another because of ease of access, yet if we truly want to connect well with those that we lead, we must utilize a few different forms of communication to get the message across. Think about it like this, we all have different styles of learning, (audio, visual, kinesthetic, reading) and when we lead large companies and organizations we must connect with all different styles of learning/communicating.

How will you choose to adapt to the environment of the moment to intentionally connect with the different communication styles of your people?

If you would like to purchase The Long-Distance Leader you can here.
