Juan Omar Chaidez Obituary

With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Juan Omar Chaidez on June 23, 2025, in his hometown of Princeton, Texas. He was 37 years old.

Born on June 22, 1988, in La Mirada, California, Omar was the beloved son of Silvia and Juan Chaidez. From a young age, he radiated kindness, energy, and a heart made for helping others.

He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 2006, where he stood out as a dedicated and talented baseball player, a sport he loved deeply and played throughout high school and college. His drive and determination led him to UCLA, where he proudly earned his degree in 2012 and continued to grow into the remarkable man so many came to admire.

In November 2018, Omar moved to Dallas, Texas, to begin his career as a Firefighter Paramedic with the Dallas Fire Department. For Omar, service wasn’t just a job, it was his calling. He approached every shift with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others.

Omar was a light in every room and a hero both in and out of uniform. After surviving the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, he didn’t hesitate to run toward danger, saving multiple lives in the process. That moment of extraordinary bravery was just one example of the strength and selflessness that defined him.

He lived with joy and authenticity. Omar loved country line dancing and two-stepping. He was often the first on the dance floor and the last to leave, always with a smile. He also had a deep love for animals, especially those in need of a home. Over the years, he adopted and cared for his late dog, C.C., his quirky cat, Pseudo, and most recently, his loyal companion, A.J.

Omar’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of his parents, family, friends, fellow firefighters, and all those lucky enough to have known him. He never asked for anything but gave everything: his love, time, strength, and laughter.

Rest easy, Omar. Your light will never fade, and your legacy lives on in every heart you touched.
